A night that everything seemed to be familiar.
[dropcap size=big]Ο[/dropcap]n 20th of May, the 20th Friday of 2016 did not… go bad. Indeed, it did not happen by chance. And not only that, but Saturday dawned creating a memory in two hundred people who were in the Principal Club Theater; a memory which we are going to recount each time we hear a line or discussion about psychedelic or progressive rock. The 20th Friday of 2016… found us listening live to Hawkwind!
On Saturday classic rock fans and friends of the psychedelic decade of 60s and 70s in Thessaloniki had a special feast as they found themselves celebrating with Dave Brock (!), Mr Dibs, Richard Chadwick, Niall Hone as well as the 23 year old Haz Wheaton the release of the new album of Hawkwind, named The Machine Stops. Τhe… psychedelia on video art, the green colour dominating everywhere (everywhere!) and upon Hawkwind performed their new space album – not at all a dull one- arrived at encore and…Hassan I Sahba and… Silver Machine! People were so impatient for them, and, finally, they were rewarded! (two of their greatest songs)
[dropcap size=big]B[/dropcap]ands like Hawkwind come rarely to our place. Days as the 20th May will always come to our mind and will always be accompanied by the line « I was also there! »
The promising moving in psychedelic or maybe kraut music pathways, as well, Solar Music Library opened the concert for Hawkwind.
P.S. There were also young people at the concert. Something that was really important.
